A few months ago, National Geographic Channel and Canon launched an Asia wide Explore To Inspire Photo Contest and after more than 16,200 entries received for the Explore To Inspire Photo Contest, Kazi Riasat Alve (from Bangladesh) has been announced as the winner.

First prize – “Playing in the muddy field” by Kazi Riasat Alve (Bangladesh)

 

 

Held in celebration of National Geographic’s 125th anniversary, the two-month-long contest in late 2013 was open to all aspiring young photographers, aged 18 and above, residing in 13 countries – Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand or Vietnam.

First prizewinner, Kazi Riasat Alve (Bangladesh) won judges over with an inspiring perspective of a young boy lying on his back in a muddy field, lifting one’s spirit with the quiet calm confidence of a smile, against all odds. Taken with a Canon EOS Kiss X3 and Canon 18-55mm, f/3.5-5.6 lens, Kazi captured the winning shot at Dhaka, in a school field where underprivileged children plays after school.

Asep Teguh Kantyana and Marco Tjokrosantoso, both from Indonesia, were awarded first and second runners-up respectively. They will receive a Canon EOS 6D (body) and a Canon EOS 70D (body). The top three photographs from the contest will also be featured in the March 2014 copy of National Geographic’s Asia Edition.

আমারা খোলা চোখে পৃথিবীকে রঙিন দেখি । কিন্তু জীবন কি আসলই রঙিন ? সাদা কালো ছবিতে ফুটে উঠেছে আমাদের দেশের সাধারন মানুষের জীবন ।

ঢাকা মেডিকেল হাস্পাতাল-এর সামনের ফুটপাথ । পরম আনন্দে দুপুরের খাবার খাচ্ছে  কয়েকজন শ্রমজীবী মানুষ । সাদা ভাত,আলু ভর্তা আর ডাল । এই অতি সাধারণ খাবার যে তৃপ্তি নিয়ে গ্রহণ করছে- এরকম তৃপ্তি নিয়ে আমারা কি খেতে পারি ?

সদর ঘাট, সংসার এর বোঝা কাঁধে তার। বউ-এর অনেকদিনের শখ একটা আলমারির । জমানো টাকা শেষ -তবু ত বউ-এর শখ পুরন হোল।

সদর ঘাট এর ছেলে । পেশা কুলিগিরি। আয় রোজগার খারাপ না । বাপ মরা সংসার একাই বয়ে চলছে সে । স্কুলে যাওয়ার খুব  ইচ্ছে ছিল তার, কিন্তু তার দুচোখে এক অবেক্ত বেদনা ।

সে এক অদ্ভুত সময় । তারুণ্য জেগেছে বাংলাদেশকে কলঙ্ক মুক্ত করার জন্য । শাহাবাগ এ শত কণ্ঠে স্লোগান উঠেছে ' ক-তে কাদের  মোল্লা-তুই রাজাকার...তুই রাজাকার...। শহরের সব রাস্তা এসে  থেমে গেছে শাহবাগে । হাতে হাতে প্রজ্জলিত মোমবাতি । সবার এক দাবি রাজাকারদের  বিচার চাই ।
